"According to a review based on 25 publications, the “top 10” migraine triggers are stress, auditory triggers, fatigue, fasting, hormonal triggers, sleep, weather, visual triggers, olfactory triggers, and alcohol. Dietary factors are less common, but their role in precipitating migraine episodes is of increasing interest. The classical and most frequently cited migraine dietary triggers are chocolate, cheese, citrus fruits, nuts, processed meats, monosodium glutamate, aspartame, red wine, and coffee."

This article goes on to further dissect the relationship between chocolate and migraines with a few specifics that really caught my attention:
- While it is not absolute, it may be useful to note that they state that attacks usually appear within 12-24 hours after ingestion.
- Chocolate contains tryptophan and serotonin, and one study suggests that a greater daily intake of serotonin may reduce your odds of a migraine by 54%-60%, although I don't see this as widely accepted as fact. More studies need to be done.
- One of the best trigger studies found chocolate to be a trigger in less than 1.5% of participants.
